Basic painting
Basic painting is a painting based on "The Blue Boy" by Thomas Gainsborough. Jolly Redd sells it from his boat for 4,980 Bells, but it may be a forgery, so check before you buy. Donate the genuine piece to the museum to fill the art gallery.
Gainsborough's full-length portrait of a youth in a shimmering blue satin outfit, one of the best-loved British paintings of the 18th century.
How to spot the forgery
Look at his hair. The fake boy has a bowl cut with a heavy fringe hanging over his forehead. The real boy's hair is wavy and has no thick fringe.
